TONASKET – It’s been a long spring for the Tonasket girl’s softball team.
The girls are currently two and 12 with two games to go before the season ends next week.
“We just want to get by this year,” said head coach Dave Shaw. “We want to make it through the season.”
Injuries have plagued pitchers and getting hits off hasn’t come easily.
The girls lost 0-18 to Chelan April 24 and 0-18 to Cascade April 26.
“We’re making errors and not making any hits,” Shaw said.
Shaw doesn’t have high hopes for the last two games against Cashmere and Brewster.
“We had all our easy games at the beginning of the season,” he said. “It’s not looking good and it’s probably not going to get any better.
The end is in sight. After Friday’s make-up game at Brewster, the softball bats can get a rest.
“We’re just trying to survive,” Shaw said.
