Woman crashes into telephone pole

Ashley Rothrock/submitted photo On Monday evening a 52-year-old female said something went wrong with her steering wheel and caused her to lose control of her vehicle. She swirved, striking a power pole on Highway 7, near Tonasket. There were no injuries and the woman was the only occupant in the vehicle.

The Tonasket High School Knowledge Bowl team placed second in the State competition held at Wenatchee High School on March 22. A total of 93 teams from all sized schools from throughout the state participated in the competition. Susan McCue Knowledge Bowl Coach most teams had six members so they could sub in and out. “Our small three man team stayed the course and placed first in their division, qualifying them for the championship rounds. After a grueling five hours in the morning, they took a short break and returned for two more hours in which they took second place. This is unprecedented. The decision to demolish the building formally known as the Tonasket Police Department was not made lightly, as it held sentimental value for many residents who remember the historical significance. Over the past serveral years, city officials have discussed the future of the building, during Tonasket City Council meetings. While future plans have not been set in stone, city officials are considering future plans to expand city hall and the public library.
