Sheryl Lynn Verbeck, age 53, of Tonasket passed away peacefully, after a long battle with cancer, at the North Valley Hospital in Tonasket surrounded by family and friends.
She was born on Aug. 5, 1954 in Toppenish to parents, J.B. and Shirley Dodd. Sheryl grew up in Wapato and graduated from Wapato High School in 1972. Sheryl attended Walla Walla College and received her BA in Nursing. She then worked as an R.N. at Toppenish Memorial Hospital. In 1980, she married Wayne Verbeck in Wapato. Together they lived in Tonasket where Sheryl worked for 24 years at North Valley Hospital. Much of this time she was the Charge Nurse at night. Sheryl enjoyed crocheting and cross-stitching, giving many of these items to family and friends. She also was a good cook and enjoyed baking.
Sheryl is survived by her husband, Wayne Verbeck at home; one sister, Marlene Cortez of Spokane; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Ellisforde Church of the Brethren with Pastor Jim Albright, officiating. Interment will follow at the Ellisforde Brethren Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Ellisforde Church of the Brethren, then North Valley Hospital Foundation or “Our House” in Wenatchee.
