Roberta Nelson Campbell died at her home on June 10, 2011 after a brief illness.
Roberta was born on Feb. 25, 1936 in the Oroville Hospital to parents Joe and Doris Hardenburgh. She graduated from high school in 1953, attended college at Whitman and in 1954 married Stan Nelson. They were married for 43 years and had three sons: Monte, Mark and Erik. In 2002, she married The Rev. Robert Campbell and they made their home in Oroville.
A full and people-filled life was her gift to the world. She was never too busy for others and found great joy in children. Over a course of 42 years she baked about 1200 gingerbread houses and invited children to decorate them. She was an avid reader, great cook, musician and skilled bridge player. She also enjoyed skiing and spending time at the cabin on Baldy Mountain. Roberta considered it a blessing to have lived her life in this valley.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stan; son, Monte; brother, Fred Hardenburgh; and nephew, Joe Hardenburgh.
She is survived by her husband, Bob; sons: Mark (Patti) Nelson and Erik Nelson; seven grandchildren: Tara, Chase, Dylan, Matthew, Jacob, Anna Janae and Joshua Nelson; three step-children; and six step-grandchildren; her sister and brother-in-law Marilyn and Dennis Wilder; sister-in-law, Syd Hardenburgh; and her cherished nieces and nephews Robin (Bob) Hanson, Alison (Harold) McCoy, Elizabeth (Jeff) Hafter, Lindsey (Wayne) Asmussen, Kris Wilder and Corey (Anne) Wilder.
