Robert “Bob” F. Bourn, age 87, of Oroville, died June 23, 2011 in Seattle, Wash. He was born Feb. 21, 1924 in Cashmere, Wash., to Robert and Vearl Bourn. Bob grew up on a ranch on Peshastin Mountain and moved to Oroville in 1936. He served in our Armed Forces in the Army during WWII in China, Burma and India. Bob came home to Oroville after the war and bought his orchard, which he operated for many years. He was a proud and long time member of the Oroville American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Mary at home; son, Craig Bourn of Oroville; daughter, Holly Lee of Seattle; brothers Donald Bourn of Puyallup, Michael Bourn of Oroville and Stephen Bourn of Hawaii; sister, Betty Lou Vickrey of Olympia; grandchildren: Stephen Bourn, Faith Bourn, Angela Fletcher, Joann Larkin, Albert Lee III, Ryan Lee and Kelli Knutson; great grandchildren Shane, Alexandra, Taylor, Alexus, Amara, Dominic, Albert IV, Jasmine, Haileigh and Kole
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 1, 2011 1 p.m. at the Bergh Chapel in Oroville with Military Graveside services to follow at the Oroville Riverview Cemetery with the Oroville American Legion, officiating. A potluck luncheon will follow at the Oroville American Legion Hall. Visitation for friends will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital, Spokane.
