Rena G. Lewis, 94, was born June 20, 1916 in Molson (Circle City), Wash., and passed away on June 11, 2011 at Valley Medical Center in Renton, Wash.
Rena’s parents immigrated from Norway and homesteaded in her hometown of Oroville. After graduating from high school she married Cecil Linscott and together they had a son, Robert. They relocated to Seattle and later divorced. Rena took a job with Sears where she met her soul mate and future husband, Elvin ‘Al’ Lewis, they married in 1967.
Rena was known for her contagious smile and quick wit that was evident right up to her final days. She was a very social person who loved her loyal friends, spending time with her grandchildren, visiting the Renton Senior Activity Center and spending Saturday mornings at the Westernco Donut Shop. In her earlier years she enjoyed traveling, doing ceramics and shopping. After losing her beloved husband Al, she enjoyed her time at The Lakeshore Retirement Community with the many friends she made and the center’s various activities. She was especially fond of Wii Bowling.
Rena is survived by three grandchildren: Mary Barker of Spokane, Wash., Robert Linscott of Clarkston, Wash. and Tracy Speck of Beaverton, Ore. She is also survived by great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Peer and Mary Sneve; her sisters Ida and Pearl; brother Sid; son Robert; and husband Elvin.
A memorial was held on Friday, June 24 at the Lakeshore Retirement Community, 11448 S. Rainier Ave., Seattle, WA 98178 at 2 p.m.
