Margaret Carter Wilson went to be with her Lord and Savior on Feb. 28, 2009.
She was born Oct. 26, 1915 in Lawrence, Kan. to parents Letitia Hall and Ralph Emerson Carter. Margaret grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana and graduated from Purdue University in 1937. Margaret did a dietetic internship at the Montifore Hospital in the Bronx, New York City and was a dietician at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Ill. She was also employed at Lilly Pharmaceutical for five years.
Margaret married Lester Ivan Wilson on Sept. 18, 1949 in Indianapolis where their three daughters: Patricia Ann, Dorothy Lynn and Susan Lee were born. After she became a wife and mother, Margaret retired and devoted herself to her family. The Wilson family moved to Cataract Lake, Indiana in 1965. Lester, Margaret and Susie moved to Steinhatchee, Fla. in 1974.
After her husband’s death in 1984, Margaret relocated to Oroville. She made many new friends in her adopted hometown as she took an active party in numerous clubs and functions. Margaret was involved in the Oroville Senior Citizens Center always going to the dinners and meetings. She was cashier at the rummage sales held at the Boy Scout log cabin. She was an officer in Eastern Star and Garden Club and enjoyed playing cards with the Orthopedic Bridge Club. Margaret made yearly trips to visit Patty and the grandsons in Georgia until her declining health prohibited it. She also went on several cruises to far off places including New Zealand, Australia, Denmark and Russia. It was a glorious day when Margaret came to know her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was baptized in April 2000. She attended the Oroville Free Methodist Church with Dottie and the Tonasket First Baptist Church with Susie.
Margaret’s health deteriorated and she moved to North Valley Assisted Living just after her 90th birthday. She enjoyed her time in the beautiful facility until Alzheimer’s forced a move to the Nursing Home where she received tender loving care.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and her only sibling, a brother, Ralph Carter.
She is survived by her daughters and their families: Patty and Walter Key in Atlanta, Ga., grandsons, Jeff and wife Jessica Morton (great grandchildren Sydney and Dylan) and Ryan and wife Robin Morton (Cody and Raven); Dottie and Dan Bowlin in Oroville, grandchildren Benjamin (Maximus), Letitia and her husband Daniel, and Nathan; Susie and Richard Burton in Ellisforde, grandchildren Matthew and Samantha.
Margaret was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed but as believers, her children know they will see her in glory.
A memorial will be held in her honor at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 21 at the Oroville Senior Center.
