John F. Zarieki, 76, of Bremerton, Wash. died Sept. 24, 2007 at Harrison Medical Center. He was born in New Suffolk, Long Island on April 16, 1931.
On June 5, 1954 he married Josephine Schiano in Los Angeles, Calif. John served with the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1954. He served in the Korean War and received an honorable discharge with a Purple Heart Medal and other medals. After his military service John and his wife lived in Los Angeles where they had three children. Later they moved to Tonasket where he owned and operated Rainbow Resort for 18 years. They relocated to Bremerton where he worked at the Home Base. He was a member of the Sons of Italy Cataldo No. 2280, American Legion and VFW 239.
John is survived by his wife of 53 years; daughter Patti Hendrix; son Michael Zarieki; daughter and son-in-law Toni and Michael Henneman. He has six grandchildren, Andrew, Melissa, Austin, Karlie, Brock and Katie; six brothers and sisters, Anna Ciacia, Bunny and Tony Morro, Eddie and Marion Zareski, Millie Zareski, Helen Lipila, Al Zareski; and numerous nieces and nephews.
