In loving memory of Isaac Parker, born Oct. 21, 1935.
Ike came to Oroville at age 15 from the Okanogan Indian Reserve in Vernon B.C. He worked at the sawmill in Oroville and Tonasket as a millwright. At age 22 in 1958 he married Virginia Cline. At age 33 he was diagnosed with bone cancer and lost his left leg and hip. Isaac and wife Virginia also owned and managed apple orchards in the Oroville area. Isaac Parker is a very strong and stoic Indian man who survived cancer for over 40 years. On Sept. 29, 2010 Isaac Parker died peacefully in the morning sun reading the Indian newspaper, under the shade tree in his front yard.
Isaac is survived by his wife, Virginia Parker; daughter, Ruby Parker; and two sons: Isaac Parker Jr. and James Parker. He is also survived by one brother, Andy Parker; three sisters: Edna, Lillian and Jean, who still reside in British Columbia. Isaac also has many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Isaac Parker will be greatly missed by his family, along with the community of Oroville. We all loved him very much.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Oct. 9 at the Valley Christian Church with Pastor Randy McAllister officiating at 11 a.m. and a memorial luncheon/dinner will be held at the Oroville Eagles in his honor.
We will not say goodbye. We will meet again. Rest in peace Isaac Parker.
