Henry G. Zacher was born in North Dakota to Michael and Matha Zacher in 1931. He passed away at age 88 in Oroville, Washington.
His family moved to Seattle in 1941 and he graduated from West Seattle High School and later joined the U.S. Navy in 1951. He married Shirley McGraw in 1952 and seven children were born to the union: Terry (Gloria), Deborah (Rick), Tom (Margie), Cathleen, Gail (Spike), Kimberlee and Joseph.
Hank worked for the General Electric apparatus shop for 34½ years.
He married Wanda McCarthy in 1974. He welcomed her daughter, Karen.
They have 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Also, three nieces and three nephews.
Hank was a tinkerer and enjoyed trying to make old things work again. He liked having coffee with the guys at The Deli.
They both learned to fly ultralights. Also, they enjoyed living off-the-grid for 23 years, west of Oroville, where they moved in 1992.
Hank was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, a daughter and a grandson
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be given to Faith Lutheran Church or the American Legion Post #84 in Oroville.
A memorial will be held at a later date.
