Helen R. Bell, age 90 of Tonasket, died on Friday, July 25, 2008 at North Valley Hospital in Tonasket.
She was born Nov. 21, 1917 in Chesaw to parents August and Annie Westphal. Helen grew up in the Wauconda area until moving to Tonasket in 1948. She spent her working years in restaurants, enjoying her job and the people. After retiring she enjoyed traveling, crocheting, quilt making and her flower and vegetable gardens. In 2001 she suffered a stroke and moved to North Valley Assisted Living in Tonasket. She still talked about wanting to “get out and dig in the dirt.” Helen was a charter member of the Tonasket Eagles.
Helen is survived by three daughters: Louise Abel of Yakima, Irene Marquis of Omak and Lela Johns of Edmonton, Alberta; nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin; one grandson; six sisters and four brothers.
Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in Tonasket. Interment followed at the Tonasket Cemetery.
