Elva “Honey” D. Batterman, age 91, passed away on Sept. 6, 2011 in Marlin, Wash.
She was born on Feb. 10, 1920 in a two-story house in Ellisforde, Wash., to Zachary and Margaret (Oliver) Hylton. Elva married Edward G. Battermann on Sept. 12, 1937 in Emmet, Idaho. They moved from Oroville to Marlin in 1950. Honey had a particular soft spot for young children and was a wonderful wife and mother. She worked outside the home in her own dry cleaning business in Odessa. She was a member of the Brethren Church in Ellisforde and of the Rebekah Lodge in Wilson Creek. Honey was known for her delicious apple pies and loving ways.
She is survived by her four children: Lanny Battermann of Republic, Wash., Dee Deife of Odessa, Wash., Terry Battermann of Davenport, Wash. and Leah Correia of Marlin, Wash. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Elva was preceded in death by her husband, Edward of 68 years, in 2005; five brothers and two sisters.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Marlin Presbyterian Church. Pastor Jon Hayashi will officiate. The family would like to thank Columbia Basin Hospice and all our many friends for their help and support. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
