Clara Louise Grace died peacefully at North Valley Extended Care in Tonasket on Sept. 25, 2009.

Clara was born to Christina and Phillip Engelhardt on March 16, 1914 in Loveland, Colo. She graduated from Loveland High School. She attended Bates College of Business in Denver and followed a career as an executive secretary. She married James R. Grace in 1934. They had two daughters and moved to Fort Collins, Colo, in 1948, where Clare worked at Colorado State University. They retired to Santa Cruz, Calif., where Clare volunteered at a local hospital.

In 1997, Clare moved to north central Washington. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands: Gail and David Bunce of Yuba City, Calif., and Joanne and Donald Dixon of Oroville; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Wilma Engelhardt of Englewood, Colo.

She was preceded in death by husband, James (Jim) Grace and three brothers: Kenneth, Robert and LeRoy Engelhardt.
