Bernice Phyliss Sundby, age 95 of LaConner, Wash, died Thursday, June 2, 2016 in Tonasket, Wash. She was born May 22, 1921 in Vancouver, British Columbia to parents Thomas J. and Florence Grant.
She lived in Victoria, BC until the age of seven and then she moved to Forks, Wash. and then Seattle, Wash. She graduated from Highline High School in Burien, Wash. She married Erling Sundby in 1942 and raised four children: Eia, Cheryl, Doug and Eric.
Bernice was involved in many school activities including PTA, mother-singers, Campfire Girls, Boy Scouts, etc. She loved music and dance and also enjoyed playing piano and organ. Retirement years were spent in La Conner, camping, boating and spending winters in Arizona.
The last six years of her life were spent in Tonasket at North Valley Assisted Living and Extended Care. She was a member of the Shelter Bay Yacht Club.
Bernice is survived by her children Cheryl “Sundby” McNall, Douglas E. (Cyndi) Sundby and Eric G. (Brenda) Sundby, Grandchildren Adam G. (Tracy) McNall, Ian (Sarah) Sundby, Travis McNall, Carleigh Sundby and Garrett Sundby, Great Grandchildren Cody McNall, Isla Sundby and Tate McNall.
She was preceded in death by her husband Erling B. Sundby, daughter Eia L. Sundby, and brothers Thomas, George and Gordon.
A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date. Memorials may be made to North Valley Extended Care or Alzheimer’s Research.
