Averill Startup, age 95 of Oroville, died on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011 in Tonasket.
He was born on Jan. 13, 1916 in Rossville, Kan. Averill grew up in Kansas. In 1935, he married Eugena Fleming in Kansas. In the early 1940’s they moved to Colorado. Averill retired from the Holy Cross Electric in 1975. He then became the range rider for a cattle association until 1999. In 2000, he and Eugena moved to Oroville to be closer to family. Averill was a member of the Aurora Masonic Lodge #201.
Averill is survived by his daughter, Jeaneen Thompson of Williams Lake, B.C.; two granddaughters: Mandy Sellars of Kamloops, B.C. and Hatty Thompson of Williams Lake, B.C.; and four great grandchildren.
Averill was preceded in death by his wife, Eugena in 2000.
