TONASKET – The City of Tonasket has named Saturday, Sept. 17 as Fall Clean-up for city residents and businesses

The city will not be making pickups, but participants can bring their waste items to the Tonasket City Shop located at 500 Railroad Ave. (by Chief Tonasket Park) between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Brush will be accepted, but not sod. No appliances will be accepted this year, but the city hopes to have an appliance drive in the future. Batteries of all kinds will be accepted, but are not allowed in the dumpster.

E-waste, like televisions, computer towers and monitors, CRTs, laptops and iPods will be collected by Green Okanogan Go Recycle. The group will also be collecting glass containers that are emptied, without lids. The school will be collecting cell phones, ink and toner cartridges.

As part of the citywide clean-up, the Okanogan Conservation District plans on leading a Bonaparte Creek clean-up. Tools, gloves and garbage bags will be provided to those that would like to help. Specific locations for the clean-up will determined at the August Bonaparte Creek Landowners meeting on Thursday, Aug. 18 at city hall at 6 p.m. For more information call the Okanogan Conservation District at (509) 486-0855, extension 100.

Ed Lawrence of Extreme Adventures will be leading the Okanogan River Clean-up on the same day. He will provide the necessary equipment. Those that want to help should meet at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Tonasket City Shop. For more information call (509) 322-9747.
