Three killed in car accident south of Tonasket

TONASKET – Two cars collided on State Route 97 about two miles south of Tonasket killing three Brewster residents and injuring a fourth and two Tonasket residents at about 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 6.

Evangelina F. Adalco, 65, a 10-year-old boy and a four-year-old girl, all of Brewster, died at the scene.

Cecilia Aldaco-Frias, 44, of Brewster, suffered a broken leg, Kathleen N. Thompson and Randy J. Thompson, both of Tonasket, were also injured. Emergency responders transported all three to North Valley Hospital in Tonasket.

Aldaco-Frias was driving northbound in a 1987 Ford Taurus with three passengers when she apparently lost control in the slush and spun into the southbound lane, Washington State Patrol Trooper Maier reports.

. The front end of Kathleen Thompson’s 2006 Ford Freestyle struck the right side of the Taurus, ejecting all four passengers, the report said.

The accident forced a five-hour road closure.

No alcohol or drugs were involved, according to the report from the State Patrol.
