TONASKET – The second annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month has begun in the North Valley Hospital District and will continue throughout the month of October.
The slogan this year, “Women’s’ Wellness…a few moments for a lifetime” replaces last year’s slogan of Women’s Wellness Wednesdays, so this year women can come in any day of the week.
The hospital district is partnering with the Omak Stampede Association Discount Glass, who has given $2,000, the Okanogan Valley Gazette-Tribune, the Oroville Pharmacy, the North Valley Community Health Foundation, who has also given $2,000, Roy’s Pharmacy, Tonasket and Oroville Family Medical Clinics and North Valley Hospital.
During the month of October, the Tonasket and Oroville Family Medical Clinics are providing annual well care exams and services all in one visit for North Okanogan County women.
According to a flyer for the program, most insurance companies pay 100 percent on annual well care exams and mammograms.
“If you do not have healthcare insurance, funding will be provided by some of our Partners Against Breast Cancer to cover the cost of a mammography exam and reading for 40 low income North County Women,” the flyer states. “There are also other programs available.”
Patients who pay with cash for their visit will receive a 15 percent discount and each woman who comes in will automatically be entered into a drawing for prizes provided by some of the Partners Against Breast Cancer.
