TONASKET – North Valley Hospital District is on track to meet their year-end goal of lowering their warrants amount to $2 million.

At the hospital board’s meeting on Thursday, June 9, Chief Financial Officer Bomi Bharucha said the warrants were down to $2.1 million as of that evening.

Also during this meeting, Judy Gladden with the Extended Care announced that the contract with the Veteran’s Administration has been approved so that soon, the Extended Care can start accepting VA patients. Eligibility information will be released in the following weeks.

Finally, NVH Administrator Linda Michel announced that the VA Clinic is doing so well that a new physician is needed.

“We continue to grow our VA population and we’re not keeping up so I’m asking your permission to start looking for an MD for the VA Clinic,” she said to the board. “I will ask Coast-to-Coast if they have anyone interested in the position first, but then I will look for a Washingtonian who knows rural medicine for the position.”

The board granted Michel permission to begin looking for a new doctor for the clinic.

The next hospital board meeting will be on Thursday, June 30 at 7 p.m. in the boardroom.
