Madeline was born September 29, 1928 in Dublin West Virginia to James and Carrie Farmer. As a teenager she moved with her mother and other siblings west from Dublin working their way across the country eventually settling in Oroville. The family moved into the dryer cabins and she went to work at the Oroville Valley Evaporating Company to help support her family.
Madeline met the love of her life Victor Noel and after a short courtship the two were married in 1947. Shortly thereafter the couple moved to the family farm south of Oroville where they worked together running the ranch and raising their family. Madeline enjoyed 65 years of marriage prior to Victor’s death in 2014. Madeline’s entire life was centered on taking care of her family. She had a quite calming spirit about her that made family members feel that all was well in their worlds. She was what you would consider an old fashion stay a home homemaker who never even acquired a driver’s licenses. She was always there to see that her family had everything they needed, never asking for anything in return. She was a very strong women never complaining even though there were times when she should have.
Madeline loved spending time with her twin sister Mattie Lee (Effie) Hill and all the neighbors whenever she got a chance. She especially loved family get togethers for birthdays and holiday gatherings. Madeline never got away from home much but was able to make a couple trips back to Dublin West Virginia for the Farmer Family Reunion. She traveled from Oroville with her sister Frances Day and her Niece Brenda Hill. On one of her trips she met up with her brother Charles and his wife Evenlyn. They visited with relatives still living in the area and were able to locate the old farm where she grew up. These were special events in her life and she enjoyed them very much, her entire family was so excited she was able to participate. She always had a large garden and enjoyed taking care of all the flowers around the yard. She was also a member of the Oroville Royal Neighbors.
