There are a couple of people out there that are spreading nasty rumors about Howling Ridge Rescue that need to be nipped in the bud. Here are the facts:
1.No animal is being starved at this facility. They are well fed and watered at all times.
2.Animals are not being abused. There are vets that work with Wendy who I am sure would be able to recognize an abused dog or cat.
3.There is not a $50 fee to drop an animal off. A donation is welcome, but definitely not required. I would assume that any responsible person leaving an animal there would donate what they could. This lady is doing us all a great service in taking in animals that desperately need care.
4.Animals are NOT being taken to the coast and sold to labs. This one is too stupid to even comment on.
5.The place is not closing down.
Now for you who are spreading this bag full of nasty…they say, “It takes all kinds to make the world go around.” You are the perfect example as to why that little adage isn’t any truer than the trash you’ve been spewing. I’ve seen some pretty low-down people, but you could sit on a dime and swing your legs. What kind of pleasure can you possibly get out of this? If you do get pleasure from doing this, what does that say about your character? We are getting closer to finding out the identity of at least one of these people. I believe there could very well be a slander suit here. Maybe there is a good-hearted, dog-loving attorney out there that would donate his or her time?
In closing, I’d like to say that if you hear a bad rumor and are in the least concerned that it could be true, call and find out from the horse’s mouth. The number is (509) 486-4506. Better yet, go there and see for yourself. Bring some gloves.

P.S. The second annual Mutt Show, to benefit Howling Ridge, will be held on June 19 at the Wauconda Hall. There will be categories this year (and more organization) so start thinking of costumes, haircuts and tricks. More information will be available at a later date.
