LOOMIS – Bible Faith Family Church of Oroville puts on a Kid’s Fishing Day every year on free fishing day in June.
Since 1993 the church has prepared onshore games, fishing boats, fishing poles, lunch and awards. Everyone of every age group is always welcome. If you had ever gone to Palmer Lake for a Fishing Day you could have expected – rain or shine – good food, great friends, new friends, tons of fun and lots of laughter and smiles, say organizers.
“You might not take a fish home, but truly that is not the whole point,” they add.
Even though it has been dubbed “Kid’s Fishing Day” – fish can be caught by kids and adults. Not only fish are taken home, but memories can be had by all.
Kid’s Fishing Day was originally started to reach kids with a day filled with fun and focused on them. In nearly 15 years the intent is the same. The first KFD had about 60 people in attendance; it has grown to over 100.
The members of Bible Faith Family Church would like to offer their thanks to everyone who brought kids, fishing poles, food for lunch, sunscreen, life jackets and water or those that helped organize and or gave donations.
“Without any of you the day would not have been the same,” said organizers, who add if this sounds like something you would be interested in helping with or participating in, call Jim Barker at (509) 476-2632 or (509) 560-0901
