John Antone Gruzensky, age 89 of Oroville, passed away Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010.
He was born Sept. 18, 1921 in North Dakota to parents Mike and Alexandria. John had four siblings: a sister, Ann Bauer of Michigan, a brother, William “Bill” of Oregon, a sister, Alvina Roberts (deceased) and a brother, Paul of Washington. John met and married Mildred Simpson in 1954. The couple adopted a boy, Ron and raised a foster daughter, Sally (deceased). John and Mildred are both retired teachers. He was a member of the Osoyoos Seventh Day Adventist Church. His Hospice nurses became great friends as they helped with John’s care as pancreatic cancer invaded his body. He sleeps now, awaiting the call of Jesus, the Resurrection and the life.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred, at home.
John was preceded in death by one daughter and one sister.
Graveside services were held Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010 10 a.m. at the Oroville Riverview Cemetery with Pastor Leonard Andrews officiating. Memorials may be made to International Children’s Care, P.O. Box 820616, Vancouver, WA 98682.
