FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Kody Kramer, a senior at Pacific University, finished fifth at 157 pounds to be the top finisher for the Pacific men’s wrestling team as they played host to the Mike Clock Open at the Stoller Center on Sunday.
Kramer, whose high school wrestling career was with the Oroville Hornets, defeated Rafael Avila of Central Washington’s club team with a fall in three minutes, 58 seconds in his first round. He then defeated the unattached Brock Crocker with a fall in 4:28 in the second round and won by a 7-6 decision in the next round over Clackamas CC’s Kaleb Cook. In the fourth round, he lost by a fall in 1:29 to the eventual champion, R.J. Pena. Kramer lost in a major decision to Highline CC’s Erik Jones 11-2 before bouncing back to a 6-1 decision over Clackamas CC’s Billy Goldberry to claim fifth place.
