Chamber considering creating brochures

TONASKET – During their meeting on Tuesday, June 14, the Tonasket Chamber of Commerce discussed making brochures.

President Dale Crandall presented a number of brochures from other cities and towns in Okanogan County as well as other neighboring counties and he stated he though the chamber should create one for Tonasket to help improve tourism.

Many of the members in attendance expressed interest in the idea and the chamber plans to discuss it further in future meetings.

Also during this meeting, Treasurer Bill Nelson stated the chamber currently has 69 members and member Rob Nau said the RV Park is doing well so far.

Dave Kester than gave a very short Tonasket Visitors and Business Resource Center report to the board, dealing with the new sign for the TVBRC.

“We got the sign framework stained last week so it’s now a dark brown log,” Kester said.

Finally, the chamber discussed how they felt the Founders Day activities went this year.

“I thought Founders Day was great and well organized,” Crandall said. “It was such a nice day.”

Julie Alley added that the Tonasket High School winter cheerleaders made over $100 with the dunk tank, that the American Legion sold out of food at their barbecue and that there were eight vendors so the chamber made $80 through vendors.

During their next meeting, on Tuesday, June 28, the chamber will decide on whether or not they will only hold one meeting for July and for August, as they have in previous summers.
