OROVILLE – The folks at Oroville RE/MAX Realty and Taber’s Taste of Summer are promising an even bigger and scarier ride this year.

“There will be two wagons this year so the wait times will be reduced and we have twice as many things to scare you,” said Rocky DeVon, who owns RE/MAX Lake and Country with his wife Cindy.

They, along with Dave and Judi Taber and a creepy cast of volunteers turn the orchards around Taber’s Fruit Barn into a macabre good time. This year’s hayride starts at 6 p.m. with a walk through Taber’s haunted nursery building before climbing aboard the hay wagon.

“We will have twice as many things to scare you,” said DeVon, who adds that this year they are asking people to bring a donation of a non-perishable food item for the local food bank.

North Central Washington Association of Realtors is sponsoring the food drive, according to DeVon.

Due to a crop failure the regular annual pumpkin patch will not take place this year, however, RE/MAX and Taber’s have purchased pumpkins for preschool age children to have. The pumpkin event will be held on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 20 and 21, starting at 9:30 a.m.

The Oroville Chamber of Commerce is planning their Business Decoration and Halloween Costume contest again this year on Halloween, Oct. 31. The date for the Downtown Trick or Treat has not yet been set, but will either be Friday, Oct. 28 or Monday, Oct. 31. Watch for further information in next week’s newspaper.
